In this video I review the SMSL AO10, a $99.99 integrated Class D speaker amp built around dual TPA3116 chips, rated at 70W into 4 ohms. Going in, I honestly wasn’t expecting much based on the specs, but the AO10 surprised me with how well it filled my 3m x 6m room driving my Dali Menuets (86dB). I never had to go past about 40/99 volume steps, so for small to moderately sized rooms, there’s more headroom here than you’d think. I walk through the build and features (front LED screen, plastic front/knob with a sheet metal chassis), the menu system, and what you can and can’t do without the remote. The big win for me is the internal switching power supply—no power brick, just an IEC cable. Sound-wise, the AO10 comes across transparent and revealing, with a slightly bright, crisp tonality that still sounds natural—not that thin, shrill “cheap Class D” vibe. I also compare it to the Fosi ZA3, where I hear the ZA3 as fuller/warmer in the mids, while the AO10 has a bit more sparkle and crispness up top, plus I include a sound demo so you can judge for yourself.
