About This Video

In this video I compare two budget IEMs that look almost identical but sound like complete polar opposites: the Twistura D-Major and D-Minor. The D-Minor is around $30 and uses an LCP dynamic driver with a plastic top shell, while the D-Major is around $45 with a beryllium plated composite driver and an all-zinc alloy shell. Build is honestly excellent for the price on both—metal parts, a little driver window, and interchangeable tuning nozzles. Isolation is good for a dynamic set, but I do have fit issues because of a straight edge that pushes against my ears when I try to insert them deeper. I go over the tuning nozzles (red/blue/black) and review both using the stock black nozzles. The D-Minor is a fun, energetic, warm V-shape with a big mid-bass lift and satisfying sub-bass rumble, plus rich and non-fatiguing vocals—though it’s not the fastest and the treble has a bit of grain. The D-Major is closer to IEF Neutral with a flatter bass-to-1k response, but it has boosted treble and can sound bright and fatiguing on modern pop (hi-hats and “s” sounds especially). Where it shines is vocal-focused music (J-Pop/Chinese pop), and it can work really well for jazz and classical, with a bigger stage and sharper imaging than the D-Minor.
