In this video I put the NEW Estée Lauder Double Wear reformulation to the test on my 47+ mature skin with a full wear test and my Kristi’s Wear Report scorecard. I go deep (you know I do) into what actually changed—36-hour wear, “natural matte,” added hydration and skincare ingredients—and I break down the base so you understand why it behaves the way it does. This is still a water-based foundation with a high silicone content, and that strong film-forming silicone (trimethylsiloxysilicate) ended up being a big part of the story. Application was my biggest struggle. Straight on my prepped skin it grabbed, set too quickly, and separated—so much so that I took it off and started over. Once I mixed in extra slip and hydration (my DRMTLGY Hydration Booster and Clinique Moisture Surge Serum), it applied much better and looked significantly more polished after concealer and powder. The surprise? The shade 2W2 Rattan looked more wearable than I expected once everything was set, and the comfort level was genuinely improved versus the old formula—lightweight, not overly matte, and no irritation for me. If you’re over 40 and wondering if the reformulation is “better,” my takeaway is: it can be, but prep and application technique matter a lot with this one.
