Impossible Bottle Experiment That Actually Works Bottle, String and toothpick Center of gravity Made for parents and teachers, this video features a captivating **science experiment** demonstrating the principles of **center of gravity**. It's a perfect **do it yourself science** project for **science for kids**, offering a hands-on introduction to basic **physics** concepts. This experiment the center of gravity is straight down from the spot where the string hangs on the toothpick. It’s because the weight of the bottle is on the horizontal toothpick which balances just behind the corner of the table. Meaning the bulk of the weight is on the back half of the supporting toothpick on the table. Because of the middle toothpick, which stands at an angle towards under the table, the bottle (most of the weight) is underneath the table; making the center of gravity on the table because that is the point of contact. as long as the bottle is underneath the table it will work. Since the bottle is under the table I could rock the bottle side to side and it will stay hanging, but if I would of rocked the bottle front and backward the bottle would of fell because the center of gravity will shift over the edge of the table.
