Hey, welcome back to Kids Fun Science! Today, we're diving into a fascinating **experiment** that's perfect for **science for kids**. This **science experiment** explores basic **science projects** by stacking pennies on a card over a cup of water, making it a great **at home science** activity. It's a simple yet engaging demonstration that the whole family will love! Stacking Pennies on Water Gets Crazy #satisfying #experiment #physics Science Kits and more https://elementarysciencen.wixsite.com/sciencekits Kids Fun Science Online Store https://teespring.com/stores/kids-fun-science Chapters 0:09 1st Experiment 0:24 2nd Experiment 0:50 Science Behind this 1:20 3rd Experiment What you need pennies or a different coin but all the same a cup credit or gift card water Set up 1st experiment Glass has No water or leave it empty Place gift card on glass Make prediction on how many coins you can stack Place coins on outside of glass on the gift card 2nd experiment Fill glass full of water to the rim. Place gift card on glass Make prediction on how many coins you can stack Place coins on outside of glass on the gift card How does this happen? This fun & easy experiment works on surface tension. Surface tension is a thin sheet or skin formed by water. Surface tension tightly holds the water molecules together. Thus, if the surface tension of the water remains undisturbed, it will be able to support the weight of the pennies. Thus, the gift card is not actually floating, it is simply being held on the water surface due to surface tension. Several insects such as grasshoppers and water spider use this “sheet” to walk across water. 3rd Experiment I used Copper pennies pre 1981 that weigh 3.1g and Zinc pennies post 1982 that weigh 2.5g. Make a prediction how many pennies will it hold? #surfacetension
