In this video I’m reacting to a bunch of random French TikToks about Paris, and the main vibe is basically: “Why does everyone love to hate Paris?” I go through the clips one by one and try to separate what’s actually a fair criticism (tourist traps, expectations vs reality, the classic big-city rudeness stereotype) from what’s just internet bandwagoning. A lot of these TikToks aren’t really about Paris specifically—they’re about culture shock, travel expectations, and how people interpret everyday interactions when they don’t speak the language or understand the context. Because my whole thing is language + culture commentary, I’m paying attention to how people frame French people, how tone and social norms get misread, and how TikTok turns a few bad experiences into a “Paris is awful” narrative. The takeaway is pretty simple: Paris isn’t a magical movie set, but it’s also not the villain of Europe. If you go in with realistic expectations, learn even a tiny bit of French, and understand that big cities are big cities, you’ll probably have a much better time—and you’ll stop letting 15-second clips decide your opinion for you.
