I start off trying to deflect everything (like always), and I instantly remind myself why that can put me in a terrible spot. So I switch gears and start focusing on the smarter play—looking for parries, baiting dodge attacks, and taking guaranteed damage instead of getting greedy. You’ll see me testing little patterns like two lights into heavy, mixing in the zone trap, and paying attention to what my opponent has and hasn’t seen yet. The Warmonger matchup was actually insane. I had to slow down, get him to want to press a button back, and then punish with heavies or catch him with guardbreaks when he kept opening with heavies. After that it’s a bunch of sweaty reads—annoying Lawbringer pressure where I’m forced to parry instead of deflect, a Roach duel where defense and punishes matter, and a rematch where I literally can’t help myself from trying stuff “one time” just to see if they’re ready. Main takeaway: with Nuxia, stop making it harder than it needs to be—take the parry, take the punish, and don’t throw your whole round away chasing a highlight deflect.
