Hey everybody—Curtis here. In this demo I’m checking out the Jackson Audio Broken Arrow, and I’m running it the way I actually use stuff in the real world: my Novo Serus T (Tele bridge pickup) into my ’99 Vox AC30 with the Top Boost and Normal channels jumped, into Celestion Blues, miked with a Sennheiser e906. I start with my clean tone and then get into why this pedal has been so exciting for me in a live context. The Broken Arrow is a super flexible, very usable overdrive with four clipping presets (color-coded) and an active 3-band EQ that lets you add or subtract bass, mids, and treble—plus those nice noon indents so it’s easy to find “neutral.” It’s TS-inspired, but there’s no forced mid-hump at 12 o’clock, which I really like because I can add the mids back in (or take them out) with the active MID control. The standout feature for me is the Gain Cycle: four gain stages you can step through without needing to re-dial the knob, so I can ramp up breakup through a song and keep things feeling consistent. I also walk through the different clipping flavors and then crank it up for the most aggressive overdrive-only sounds.
