Hey everybody—Curtis here with a quick tour of the Foxpedal Vixen Dimensional Drive. In this demo I’m playing my Dymal Guitar Works Firestar with Lindy Fralin noiseless Jazzmaster pickups into my Benson Earhart Reverb combo, mic’d up with a Sennheiser e906. I start you off with a clean reference tone, then we dive into what the Vixen does best: light-to-medium gain overdrive that stays super clear, articulate, and dynamic under your hands. The big story with this pedal is that it’s basically two flavors in one, controlled by the switch. In the upper position you get the Nanolog N3 “quantum tunneling technology” clipping—yeah, that’s actually what it’s called—and it has a really cool color and shape to the tone with rich low end and a powerful presence. I use the Bass, Treble, and Presence controls to show how much you can sculpt it, then I turn the gain up to give you a better example of that mode’s range. After that I flip the switch down to the more traditional 4148 diode mode for a crunchier, more aggressive option, resetting the EQ to noon first because the controls are powerful and the voicing changes a lot. If you’re after a flexible overdrive that keeps note definition intact, the Vixen is absolutely worth a listen—especially that N3 mode.
