I cannot remember the last time I was this excited for an upcoming class of new roller coasters, and 2027 is shaping up to be something truly special. In this video, I count down my top five MAJOR coaster projects I’m watching the closest—because even though we don’t know every detail yet, we know enough to get really hyped. I talk Silver Dollar City’s massive cleared-out plot with footers already going in (and the “first of its kind in America” tease), Six Flags Fiesta Texas’ huge terrain-heavy expansion that I think could be a hyper or a multi-launch, and Six Flags Magic Mountain’s delayed-to-2027 Vekoma Thrill Glider prototype with that absolutely gorgeous blue track and a leaked layout that looks legit. Then I get into the two projects that could be total game changers: Six Flags Great Adventure’s rumored “Phantom Spire” Mack tower coaster concept (I love the idea, but I’m also worried about capacity and the tech if it’s truly 300+ feet), and Universal Orlando’s Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift—an Intamin multi-launch with rotating/drifting trains and a 170-foot vertical spike right by CityWalk. To wrap it up, I also share five other U.S. parks I think have a real shot at opening a new coaster in 2027—Holiday World, Kings Island, Hersheypark, Busch Gardens Tampa, and SeaWorld Orlando—because a lot of these parks are simply past due for their next big investment.
