In this video I’m reviewing the Simple Modern 20L backpack, and I’m sharing what it’s actually like to use for school. It comes in a ton of prints (my daughter picked the pastel checker one), and I’ve also owned the 25L version, so I can speak to sizing. I even tried the 20L on my fifth grader for a TikTok, and it fit her perfectly—this is a really great “just right” size backpack for most elementary/middle school kids. I also compare it to the Bag Smart backpack I reviewed before, and for school I’d personally choose the Simple Modern. The water bottle pockets are a big win: one side is a large pocket, and the other side has a strap you can tighten so bottles don’t move around. It works well for an Owala, and it’s especially great for a Stanley because the strap can loop through the handle and tie closed. Inside, you’ve got multiple zipper sections, including a roomy main compartment and a padded laptop pocket with a Velcro seal (more secure than the Bag Smart style). Just know the middle section has organization pockets, but you can’t fit a lunchbox in there.
