About This Video

Hey guys, Karl here. In this video I’m kicking off a new, super “run and gun” rumor series—basically me talking through what I’m seeing in the zeitgeist around cameras and gear, plus my own opinions as an FX6 owner/operator. The topic is the Sony FX6 Mark II (or whatever ends up being the FX9 successor conversation), and what Sony would actually need to put in a V2 to make filmmakers sell what they have and jump. For me, the headline feature is global shutter. If Sony can pull off global shutter while keeping the FX6’s low-light strengths, that’s a massive move and it starts competing in a different way with cameras like the Komodo. I also dig into what I think is the next evolution across the board: internal RAW—ideally something like 16-bit internal RAW or a “RAW light” style option. Beyond that, I talk about improved AI autofocus (think A7R V-level subject options), potentially better dynamic range, and some very practical body/workflow fixes. Two big usability asks: an XLR port on the body (not just living on the top handle), and a fix for the internal variable ND + polarizer weirdness that can cause cross banding and color shifts on the edges. And yeah—IBIS is the elephant in the room. Sony has the tech, and I’d love to see some form of stabilization make its way into this line.
