In this video I’m breaking down the Bright Tangerine KASBAH Ātman Universal Shoulder Rig and answering the real question: is a shoulder rig actually right for your shoots? Bright Tangerine sent this in (no money changed hands, and I don’t get to keep it unless I buy it), and after putting it on about five jobs in a short window, I genuinely fell in love with it. The comfort, the handle feel, the pad, and the overall fit and finish are exactly what I expect from Bright Tangerine—almost dare I say perfection. I walk through what’s in the kit (base, pad, rosettes, rod mounts, Drumstix rods, grip bridge, and those Casell handles), how I’m configuring it with a universal Bud plate and my own quick-release approach, and why the adjustability matters in real-world use. I’ve been using it for walk-and-talks, talking head setups, and some b-roll, and the three points of contact (especially when I’m running an EVF) add stability you just don’t get the same way with something like an Easy Rig. I also get into the downsides: the VCT setup limits fore/aft adjustment unless you’re willing to deal with screws, and the price is hard to swallow. But if you want a shoulder rig you can grow with—and one that’s built to take a beating and keep working—this is absolutely worth a look (and honestly, worth renting first to see if it fits your workflow).
