White balance is still one of the most misunderstood parts of getting a clean, neutral image, and a big reason is that every camera “speaks a different language” when it comes to tint. You can grab Kelvin and tint numbers from a meter, but that doesn’t automatically tell you how to apply those numbers to your specific camera body. In this video I show a faster, more practical way to get accurate color temperature and tint on set using a phone-based tool I built for exactly this problem. I spent the last 8 months developing Cine WB as a dedicated white balance and tint meter—nothing else. I walk through how I’ll take a reading (including why I use the zoom and spot reading all the time), lock a reference, and then jump into the camera guide so you’re not stuck doing the “plug it in and good luck” routine. As an example, I’m calibrated to a universal CC 5600K with a magenta offset, then I show how the app translates that into a starting point for my Sony FX6 (5600K, tint +18) and how other systems land differently. The whole goal is to stop guessing, dial in faster, and walk onto set with confidence that your neutral is actually neutral.
