Coronavirus Quarantine: Video 22 I will be trying to post simple daily videos for inspiration for my students, and my subscribers to help give us some learning and distraction during this national emergency. Here is a link to the playlist I am adding to: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLj0pNzEmvM_qHHMTkWNXKzUd_0BADQL0a In this video I demonstrate throwing three simple little forms off the hump- where is you are only centering the small upper portion of a clay hunk- and throwing something small. I show the use of a clay “bat” which is an excess disk of clay under the little thrown form used to protect the bottom when it is cut and lifted. This isn’t necessary, but it is helpful! I am making three small dishes for our little hedgehog, Penny. The contact information for ordering the bat system is: email is ontariostpottery@gmail.com. The system comes with 1 Master bat and six, six inch inserts. Our price for the bat system is $80 and each additional insert is $3.50. Plus freight which so far everyone I have sent has been around $30. This is all Canadian dollar pricing For the great tools I used in the video (including the Kemper knife) check out this link to a live searchable (control F) Googledoc I continually update with lots of my favorite tools on Amazon using my associate links! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XbYPQjjJnHrQG5xyWGMHZkEcZj5N8VnUAbFZdJRrRmU/edit?usp=sharing You can also check out my Amazon Influencer Store Here: https://www.amazon.com/shop/karanspotsandglass I am a public high school ceramics teacher at William Mason High School in Mason, Ohio. (Mason is currently the largest high school in Ohio!) As a potter, I have been working in clay for over 30 years, and I have been teaching for over 28 years, the past 20 have been specifically teaching high school ceramics. I love what I do! I have my own studio in my home basement, where I work on my personal pottery for my Etsy site; https://www.etsy.com/shop/KaransPotsAndGlass I started my Youtube channel a few years ago, to make videos to help my students if they are absent and miss a demo, or if they would like to explore more advanced techniques independently. I have been amazed to reach such a wider audience than my own students! Please subscribe to my channel if you would like to receive channel updates, or would like to learn more about clay and studio processes!
