Coronavirus Quarantine: Video 21 I will be trying to post simple daily videos for inspiration for my students, and my subscribers to help give us some learning and distraction during this national emergency. Here is a link to the playlist I am adding to: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLj0pNzEmvM_qHHMTkWNXKzUd_0BADQL0a This video, I took inspiration from the historic and world famous Faberge Eggs, and created my own version by laying out a design and slip trailing over my lines. The entire process as filmed took me over 1.5 hours, and I decreased that time to 24 minutes. This covers the aspects of slip trailing and cleaning, as well as laying out a even”ish” geometric pattern. I will fire the lid on it. I previously threw and trimmed the eggs, and will be adding more videos on different approaches to finishing them. I have used Laguna B-mix cone ⅚ without grog. This video is a follow up to day 17 video- where I threw the eggs- here is a link to that… https://youtu.be/4nnEoRdndjc This technique is called throwing of the hump, and I also feature it in my demo video showing mini pieces. https://youtu.be/srm6YDZXzeE Day 18 showed how I trimmed the eggs. https://youtu.be/I6I3OhUmubk Check back for tomorrow’s video on how I add more surface design before firing! (Mason is currently the largest high school in Ohio!) As a potter, I have been working in clay for over 30 years, and I have been teaching for over 28 years, the past 20 have been specifically teaching high school ceramics. I love what I do! I have my own studio in my home basement, where I work on my personal pottery for my Etsy site; https://www.etsy.com/shop/KaransPotsAndGlass I started my Youtube channel a few years ago, to make videos to help my students if they are absent and miss a demo, or if they would like to explore more advanced techniques independently. I have been amazed to reach such a wider audience than my own students! Please subscribe to my channel if you would like to receive channel updates, or would like to learn more about clay and studio processes!
