Coronavirus Quarantine: Video 46?? I have not been posting the past few months, as life has been busy… and I have been distracted with family things… like camping and hiking! All is well, no illness, and thanks to many who have reached out in concern! :) With the crazy adventures this new year presents, I will be undoubtedly making specific videos for at home working for my students. So, stay tuned for upcoming videos! In this video, I show how I am prepping for the new school year (2020-21) in case we go remote during the pandemic. I show how I have made take home kits for every student- the kit contains one damp box (file box with 1” of plaster poured in the bottom), a clay cutter from fish line and washers, two paint brushes, modified into tools on the other end with my sander, a wooden knife and fork, a sponge, ribs made from hotel key cards, a needle tool and carving tool made from a dowel with a brass brad and a metal tip made from a tape measure, two gallon ziplocks 1 for 5 lbs of clay, 1 for recycling, a rolling pin from a carpet tube, and a piece of canvas. The links for the products I purchased for these kits are following- and check out my other links in the googledoc below. Plaster is from my local wonderful ceramic supplier! (Mason is currently the largest high school in Ohio!) As a potter, I have been working in clay for over 30 years, and I have been teaching for over 28 years, the past 20 have been specifically teaching high school ceramics. I love what I do! I have my own studio in my home basement, where I work on my personal pottery for my Etsy site; https://www.etsy.com/shop/KaransPotsAndGlass I started my Youtube channel a few years ago, to make videos to help my students if they are absent and miss a demo, or if they would like to explore more advanced techniques independently. I have been amazed to reach such a wider audience than my own students! Please subscribe to my channel if you would like to receive channel updates, or would like to learn more about clay and studio processes!
