This video shows how to make “Message” stones using stoneware clay and Iron oxide to finish the bisque fired stones. These get fired twice. First is bisque, after the stone is made and carved, and the second firing is after the application and the wiping of the oxide. This video is intended as either a time filler in my class- if kids want to do a fun extra piece if they have time, or truly, I intended it for the aides who may come to my class with some special needs kids who cannot do the projects my typical kids can do in class. I am making a playlist of videos for kids, beginners, or special needs kids who have the help of an aide. Here is the link to the playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLj0pNzEmvM_pujf1Wl4aHjhZ-uJOPMC2_ Check out my Amazon Influencer Store where I have recommendations for some of my favorite tools and products many of which I use in my videos- which are available on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/shop/karanspotsandglass For many of the great tools I used in the video check out this link to a live Googledoc I continually update with lots of my favorite tools on Amazon using my associate links! (Mason is currently the largest high school in Ohio!) As a potter, I have been working in clay for over 30 years, and I have been teaching for over 30 years, the past 20+ have been specifically teaching high school ceramics. I love what I do! I have my own studio in my home basement, where I work on my personal pottery for my Etsy site; https://www.etsy.com/shop/KaransPotsAndGlass I started my Youtube channel several years ago, to make videos to help my students if they are absent and miss a demo, or if they would like to explore more advanced techniques independently. I have been amazed to reach such a wider audience than my own students! Please subscribe to my channel if you would like to receive channel updates, or would like to learn more about clay and studio processes!
