In this video I unbox and review the Keychron Q5 HE Wireless, and I’m telling you right now—this is one of the most premium keyboards I can think of for both PC and Mac. Keychron sent it over, and as someone who already runs multiple Keychron boards on my PC and my Mac Studio, I was genuinely excited to see what their latest QMK custom board with double-rail magnetic Gateron Nebula switches feels like in real use. First impression: this thing is insanely heavy (in a good way) because of the 6063 aluminum case, and it immediately makes the typical “Apple keyboard in the box” feel like a toy. I walk through the 96% layout, the extra customizable keys up top, and that dial on the right (volume by default, but you can map it to whatever). Then I hook it up to my PC, swap out my older Keychron C1, and jump into Keychron Launcher to tweak RGB, update firmware, and—my favorite part—adjust actuation points per key. With the double-gasket design and those magnetic switches, it ends up feeling super soft and dampened… like typing on marshmallows, which honestly just makes me want to type all day. If you’re on Mac and you’re still using Apple’s flimsy “Pro” keyboard, I’d ditch it. This is a legit upgrade for productivity and gaming, and the Mac/Windows switch plus USB/Bluetooth/2.4GHz modes makes it easy to run on any setup.
