In this video I’m doing a quick base model M4 Mac Mini review, and honestly…I think Apple just dropped their most exciting product in the last 10 years. The value is wild: $499 if you’re a student/teacher (or $599 for the rest of us), and you’re getting ridiculous single-core performance in a tiny little box. What really matters for my workflow is that this thing is actually faster than my MacBook Pro in single-core stuff, and it’s compelling enough that I’m seriously replacing my MacBook Pro with it. The big “how” is power: I’m running the Mac Mini off an Anker Powerhouse 90, which is a pure sinewave power bank. That clean power is important because with non–pure sinewave solutions you can get buzzing, and that’s not what you want around sensitive electronics. Yes, once you add a portable monitor and peripherals the whole setup can weigh more than a MacBook Pro, but you can absolutely slim it down depending on your display choice. I also talk about why this Mac Mini is a secret weapon for PC users: park it next to your PC, plug both into a great monitor with a KVM (I’m using my ASUS 32-inch QD-OLED), and you can bounce between ecosystems with a button press. It’s small, powerful, and creator-friendly—exactly the kind of Mac that makes it easy to just get work done.
