Dusty to trusty. Here's how to upgrade an old 4,1 or 5,1 Mac Pro (2009-2010) into a capable content creation workhorse! Allow me to indulge you in a bit of history at the beginning to pay homage to a nearly two-decade-old design. DO NOT go beyond 11.2.3, or better yet, stay with Catalina or Mohave until the Open Core community finds a resolution to the so-called "race condition".
