In this episode of my North Maine Woods winter ice camping trip, we head out onto a newly opened remote ice fishing lake in search of lake trout. The bite turned on and we ended up catching a lot of beautiful trout throughout the day. I’m still set up winter ice camping right on the lake, and between fishing, moving around the ice, and enjoying the day in the wilderness, we start finding more and more fish willing to bite. Remote lakes like this in the North Maine Woods of Maine can produce some incredible fishing when conditions line up. This turned into one of those days on the ice where the rods just keep going off and the trout keep coming. If you enjoy ice fishing, winter camping, and exploring the wild places of Maine, this is one you’ll definitely enjoy.
