In the dead of winter, most small towns slow down. In Fort Kent, Maine, winter brings the community to life. This video takes place during the Can-Am Crown International Dog Sled Race, an event that draws teams and visitors from around the world to the very tip of Maine. While the Can-Am is a qualifier for the Iditarod, this video isn’t focused on race standings or technical details. Instead, it’s about the town. I spent the day walking through Fort Kent, talking with locals, learning about the race from a Maine Game Warden, visiting area businesses, and watching how a small northern community comes together on a bitterly cold winter day. You’ll see sled dogs, people lining the streets, local shops, and the energy that fills the town when winter is at its coldest — and its best. Thanks for watching and taking a look at life in the dead of winter.
