Committed to living on the ice for a stretch, After hauling everything out onto the frozen lake, we set up the tent where I’ll be staying for the week and began building camp for the long cold stretch ahead. Once camp was established, we headed back out to make beaver sets and put the trapline in motion. Before long, we connected on our first beaver of the trip. I also dropped a line and managed to pull a huge crappie through the ice. This is where the trip really begins — living on frozen water, running traps, and settling into winter.
