I’ve had the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 with me for months—real estate walkthroughs, event recaps, client shoots, vlogging in the Bahamas, and even as a second interview angle. It’s not the sharpest camera and it’s definitely not the biggest, but the reason I keep reaching for it comes down to one word: convenience. It started as a “backup” in my head, and then it turned into the camera I grab when I actually want to capture the moment instead of thinking about the setup. In this video I break down what makes it so clutch: the built-in gimbal stabilization for smooth walk-throughs and handheld shots, and the fact that I shoot Normal 10-bit almost every time because it looks great out of camera. That means I can drop Pocket 3 clips next to my Sony A7S3 footage and it holds up—plus I save hours in editing because I’m not spending forever color grading. For vlogging, the flip screen and ActiveTrack make self-filming easy (even in the car), and I’ve used it for unique overhead B-roll angles without building a whole rig. I also keep it real about the downsides: limited focal length options (unless you add the wide attachment) and audio that’s decent but not great—an external mic helps a lot. But overall, it stays in my kit because it’s small, reliable, and it removes excuses to create.
