In this video I’m back on the Marketplace jon boat project that I traded for, and this one turned into one of those “it should be simple” days that absolutely wasn’t. The plan was straightforward: get the hull prepped, get it sanded, and be ready to lay down paint. But once I got into it, I started finding issues I wasn’t expecting, and it slowed everything down. A big chunk of the day was just sanding—hours of it—because if you don’t do the prep right, the paint job is going to look terrible and it won’t last. I’m getting the boat to the point where it’s ready for paint, and the next video is where I’m going to attempt spraying it with an electric sprayer. I’m also using TotalBoat aluminum boat paint for this build, and I’m hoping the sprayer setup works out because it could make the finish way more consistent than rattle cans or brushing. If you’re flipping or restoring a jon boat, this is the not-so-fun part, but it’s the part that makes the end result worth it.
