But honestly....this is a depsertae attempt at a rebrand and damage control...imo In this video I’m looking at how the brand went from being the unofficial mascot for Sephora Kids, to suddenly pretending they’ve always been a serious, science focused brand for adults. They wiped their Instagram, they changed their tone, they swapped out the colourful branding for something a bit more muted, and they’re desperately trying to win back the people they ignored for years. It’s all very… convenient....NOW THEYRE POOR! I’m going through the whole situation, from the TikTok tween phase that completely derailed the brand, to the new marketing that’s trying really hard to say “no kids allowed” without admitting what actually happened! There’s also the Shiseido angle, the layoffs, the declining sales, the identity crisis, and why this rebrand feels like it’s simply being done to keep the lights on at Drunk elephant HQ. That was mean sorry hun. And honestly, the big question is whether any of this will work. Can a brand that’s spent years leaning into bright colours, silly smoothies and relying on tweens to go viral, suddenly turn around and say “please enjoy responsibly”? Especially when they didn’t seem to care about responsibility until the TikTok money dried up! Anyway, I’m curious what everyone thinks of this so called new era. Does it feel genuine to you?
