Mother's day is upon us again here in the UK, this year rather then get my mum the obligatory chocolates and flowers, I thought I would make here something from the various pieces of wood I have around the place. I settled on Maple and Zebrano. The design I am using I found on the Steve Good website (link below) and I fully intended this to be completely cut out on the scroll saw. However, whilst cutting the Zebrano, it became clear the scroll saw wasn't quite able to cut it, as it is a very hard wood, and just over an inch thick, so I had to finish cutting in on the bandsaw which went through it with ease. In this case bigger is better. So the box went together really well, I had to make my own bobbin sander from some fence post and my pillar drill, but that worked out great. I stained the box with antique pine effect, as I wasn't quite sure whiteness of the maple stood out enough. Thanks for watching, please like, comment, share and subscribe.
