In this video I’m reviewing the Majohn P141 with the big Size 8 fine nib, and I’m doing it in my favorite format: “this, not that.” I go over what you’re actually getting with the P141—how it feels in the hand, what the design is clearly trying to emulate, and whether that oversized nib is a real upgrade or just a spec-sheet flex. I ink it up with Monteverde Ocean Noir (which I absolutely keep calling “Azure Noir” like a goof), and I run it on Rhodia Dot Grid so you can see what the line looks like and how it behaves on a known, consistent paper. Then I get into the part that matters: if you’re eyeing the P141, what I’d buy instead and why. I compare it against a handful of other budget-friendly pens I’ve reviewed—options that either write better out of the box, have fewer compromises, or simply make more sense for the money. The takeaway is pretty simple: the P141 isn’t automatically a bad buy, but there are better picks depending on whether you care most about nib feel, reliability, filling system, or overall value.
