About This Video

In this video I’m talking about the most obvious “nothing happens by coincidence” moment in anime internet history: MrBeast and a bunch of other huge creators suddenly “discovering” One Piece at the exact same time. To me it reeks like coordinated corporate marketing—especially with Netflix timing, the live-action hype machine, and everybody tweeting the same copy-paste “I finally had time” energy. Western fans already make the hobby more annoying, and this is the Hollywood machine trying to wear anime like a skin suit now that superheroes are running out of gas. The fun part is watching MrBeast crash out because people called him an anime tourist. Instead of ignoring it like a normal billionaire, he starts replying to everything, flexing that he’s “seen more anime than 90% of you,” then does the whole dystopian “let me address this from my million-dollar car” routine. He drops a list with typos (can’t even spell Gundam), name-drops Legends of the Galactic Heroes like it’s a weeb hall pass, and somehow makes it worse. My takeaway: very few people are in this for the love of the game—most are in it for clout and a paycheck—and anime fans will absolutely call you out when the promo window ends and you switch your PFP back.
