About This Video

In this video I break down my favorite skateboard setup for cruising, bowl riding, concrete pools, and that surf-carving style turning. I’m basically comparing two complete boards that I actually ride, because they feel totally different even though they’re both built around that wide, stable “old school” vibe. If you’re trying to decide between a snappy, quick-turning setup versus something that feels more flowy on bigger transitions, this is the exact comparison I wish I had when I was dialing mine in. Board A is my “fast, snappy, quick turning surfboard” build: a Powell Peralta Frankie Hill re-issue (10 x 31.5, 14.5" wheelbase) on Ace trucks, stock bushings, double risers, Swiss Bones Reds bearings, and 58mm 92a Dogtown K-9 smooth wheels. Board B is my “flowy and cruisy” build for bigger ramps and transitions: a Beer City Pig shape (10 x 30, 16" wheelbase) with Indy 159s, stock bushings, mixed risers (one hard, one soft), Swiss Bones Reds bearings, and wider 60mm 90a Powell Peralta wheels. The big takeaway: wheelbase, truck choice, and wheel size/duro change the whole personality of the board—so you can tune for quick surf snaps or smooth, confident lines.
