This "New York Gritty" episode explores the so-called Roofie Murders that plagued New York City nightlife from 2021 to 2024. As the city came out of the COVID pandemic, the LGBTQ community was under threat as groups of men were luring patrons at bars into dangerous situations, drugging them and robbing them. In some instances, leading to fatal overdoses. The victims were lured out of bars and given a mix of drugs that in some cases proved to be lethal. As word of these crimes caught on, authorities say other groups of men would do the same to women including rising fashion designer Katheryn Gallagher, who had created outfits for Lady Gaga and Laverne Cox. Host Sal Bono speaks to the family members of some of the victims who say they had to push police to reexamine the victims’ cause of deaths. Authorities maintain that the cases were correctly handled.
