Kevin Richardson: Director of User Experience, Infragistics Humans evolve slowly. Anthropologists estimate that the human brain has evolved over the last 100,000 years, give or take a century. Digital technology, however, is relatively new and its exponential growth has enabled it to quickly surpass our humble cognitive capabilities. To bridge this gap requires more than traditional training programs and usability testing. It requires more than an understanding of the human cognitive and perceptual systems and it definitely requires more than asking people what they want. Successfully and consistently bridging the technological divide requires a systematic process of innovation that keeps pace with technological evolution, making technology personal, and enabling us to become technology partners rather than technology users.
