About This Video

In this video I’m going over my favorite EDC knife under $100: the Becker BK14, aka the “Escobar.” It’s basically the love child between ESEE and KA-BAR—Becker blade shape with that Izula-style handle that just works. I compare it side-by-side with my ESEE Izula 2 and also talk about the BK11, because a lot of people cross-shop these. The BK14 gives you a noticeably bigger blade than the Izula, and with the Knife Connection extended scales you get a better, longer grip too. I also get into the stuff people don’t always mention: the factory sheath is… fine, but it’s kind of a fat sheath and that big neck clip thing is a “what are we doing here” situation for me. I make my own sheaths, so I show what I run instead, plus my paracord setup and beads. The steel is 1095 Cro-Van—super sharp and super slicey (ask my finger), but you have to oil it because it will rust, especially in humid places like my Minnesota summer. Bottom line: easy to sharpen, stays sharp, and it’s the one I keep coming back to for EDC.
