About This Video

In this one I’m messing around with a Dewalt 20V-style cordless coffee maker I grabbed off Amazon (it’s a Mellif/Melliff unit that takes Dewalt 20V batteries). I did it “by the book” with a full reservoir—about 600 ml—and I wanted to see what it actually brews because the instructions are basically useless. I ran it with my knockoff 8Ah pack and then a little 2Ah battery to see what kind of real-world runtime you’d get, and I timed/eyeballed how slow it dribbles out. Spoiler: it’s not fast, and it’s messy—coffee splatters if you’re not careful. I also found out real quick why I test stuff hard: the little coffee basket latch/tab broke on me basically immediately. For something that’s around $100 (I got it cheaper on sale), that’s pretty annoying. On the upside, it did brew a legit 8 oz cup, and the water temp I measured peaked around 120°F, which is about right for coffee. The 2Ah battery got hot and died after about one brew (it’ll tease you with a rebound bar), but a bigger battery makes it way more practical. End of the day, it’s kind of slick and kind of junky—so I’m neutral on it.
