Choosing the right food for your dog is extremely important. There's kibble, raw food diets, home cooked meals, and so many mixed options. About This Video

In this video I’m sharing what I feed my miniature dachshund, Stella—and more importantly, how I got there after a lot of trial and error. I break dog food down into three categories: meals, treats, and chews, because those all affect your dog’s health (and your sanity) in different ways. Stella can be hilariously picky (she’ll literally carry kibble to the carpet like she’s “burying” it), so finding options that were safe and that she actually liked took some experimenting. For chews, I explain why I stopped using bully sticks (Stella would chew them down and then swallow the last chunk whole—super scary) and why rawhide was a hard no for me since it doesn’t digest. The only chew I consistently give her now is a “no-hide” style chew because it breaks down and digests better, and it hasn’t caused the throwing up issues I saw with other options. For treats, my go-to training treat is freeze-dried beef (beef is Stella’s favorite flavor), and she also gets Greenies regularly for dental support. For meals, I walk you through Stella’s journey from Royal Canin puppy food to GI kibble during a vomiting phase, and finally to a healthier kibble with better ingredients—plus the strict 10-minute feeding routine my vet recommended that completely flipped her picky eating around. My biggest takeaway: there isn’t one perfect diet for every dog, so factor in your dog’s needs, your lifestyle, and your vet’s guidance.
