About This Video

It’s almost Halloween and Stella still didn’t have a costume, so I did a quick run to Dollarama and grabbed four different dog costumes for her to try on. In this video, I’m basically doing a little dachshund costume try-on haul—nothing fancy, just cheap and fun options to see what actually fits a long-bodied mini dox like Stella. I also picked up different “sizes” (small, extra small, medium) and… yeah, the labels were all over the place. We tried a shark costume first, and even though the hood was way too big (she literally couldn’t see), the body fit her surprisingly well and the length actually worked for her dachshund shape. The ladybug and butterfly were both extra snug—Stella fully did the “limp doll” shutdown and you could tell she was not impressed. The inmate/prison outfit fit pretty well and was honestly one of the easiest to get on, but the little hat was super flimsy and she wanted to play with it instead. My biggest takeaway: if you’re shopping Dollarama costumes for a dachshund, ignore the printed sizes and just eyeball the actual measurements—plus be ready for costumes to be a bit flimsy (or just DIY them with felt and Velcro).
