My miniature dachshund really struggled with house training in her first year as a puppy. Bell training her to ring the bell every time she needs a potty break helped so much to have less accidents! ↡MY SHOP: HAZEL HOUND PET WEAR↡ Website: https://geni.us/iREfO ↡PUPPY PLANNERS, PRESETS, AND FREEBIES↡ https://www.hollyobee.com/shop ↡MY FAVOURITE AMAZON DOG PRODUCTS↡ https://www.hollyobee.com/my-favourite-products ↡GEAR I USE↡ https://www.hollyobee.com/my-favourite-products ↡HOME AND OFFICE FAVOURITES↡ https://www.hollyobee.com/my-favourite-products ↡FOLLOW ME AND STELLA↡ Holly’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hollyobee/?hl=en Stella’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/stellatheminidox/?hl=en ↡MUSIC↡ https://www.epidemicsound.com ↡CONTACT↡ Email: hollyobeebusiness@gmail.com Website: https://hollyobee.com

About This Video

In this video I’m sharing the exact way I bell trained my miniature dachshund, Stella, to tell me when she needs to go outside. House training was genuinely one of my biggest struggles with her in that first year (and if you’ve got a stubborn little doxie… you’re not alone). The little Amazon doorbell-style bell ended up being such a saver for reducing accidents, because it gave Stella a super clear way to “communicate” with me instead of just hoping I’d notice her signals. I walk you through the baby-step process I used: first I rang the bell myself and treated her so the sound meant “good things.” Then I used what she already knew (paw) to help her make the connection, and eventually I waited her out until she rang it on her own. After that, I moved the bell to the door and made it a consistent rule: we don’t go out until the bell rings. It took weeks (honestly, more like a month or two before it really clicked), but once it did, it was magical—and now she rings it a few times a day when she needs a potty break. My biggest takeaway: be patient, be consistent, and don’t give up right before it works.
