The British philosopher Baroness Onora O'Neill of Bengarve, is awarded the Holberg Prize 2017 for her influental work in the field of moral and political philosophy. She is particularly well known for her work on Kant, bioethics, human rights, trust and communication ethics. The Norwegian economist Katrine Vellesen Løken is awarded the 2017 Nils Klim Prize for her research on the Nordic welfare states, with particular emphasis on family economics, labour economics and health economics. The Prizes are conferred by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon and Torbjørn Røe Isaksen, Norwegian Minister of Education and Research.
