About This Video

In this video I’m making custom deep-engraved brass coins from start to finish, and the real focus is everything that happens after the laser is done. I’m using the Monport GA60 MOPA fiber laser to engrave a handful of all-brass coin blanks with detailed designs, then I run a bunch of cleanup and finishing experiments—because honestly, this was my first time trying to make these coins look “done” instead of just freshly engraved. I test different ways to clean and brighten the brass (wire wheel, Brasso, and Dremel-style polishing), and then I go the other direction and try blackening/weathering to make the engraving pop. The whole point is comparing results side-by-side: what removes residue fast, what gives the nicest shine without rounding over details, and what kind of darkening actually stays in the recessed engraving. If you’re into fiber laser engraving, coin customization, or you just want a repeatable finishing workflow for brass, this is basically my process notes—what worked, what didn’t, and what I’d do next time.
