Why This 32-Year-Old Kayak Might Be a Better Buy Than New

I swear the Facebook Marketplace algorithm has me pegged! Every time I jump on I seem to find some cool old kayak that has been neglected and is just begging for someone like me to come along, fix it up and give it a new life. Thats the exact story of how I stumbled across this 1993 Current Designs Pachena. I've know of the Pachena for a long time as it has always been considered a classic 14' touring kayak. It inspired future designs like the Eddyline Merlin LT, Necky Looksha Sport, and many of the other light touring kayaks we see on the market today. It was designed with newer paddlers in mind, giving them a great stable option to join in on the sea kayak fad that was taking off in the early 90's. It stayed in production until around 2005 when Current Designs moved on to more modern designs like the Kestrel and Vision. (Although I would argue it may have been a step backwards) Finding a kayak of this age in good working order it rare. It does have its share of spider cracks and gel coat issues but all and all it was 100% serviceable and with some new decklines, bungee and rudder lube it was functional and ready to hit the water. I did a deep dive on my blog if you'd like to learn more and check out my vintage kayak buyers guide. https://www.headwaterskayak.com/post/the-golden-era-of-kevlar-kayaks-spotlight-on-the-current-designs-pachena ========================================= Thank for joining us today Please do not forget to subscribe and drop us a like! ========================================= For more information head over to http://www.headwaterskayak.com Facebook https://www.facebook.com/headwaterskayak/ Instagram https://www.instagram.com/headwaterskayak/?hl=en
