Last week I got a fresh container of Stellar Kayaks in to the West Coast Warehouse and amongst them was the brand new Stellar Nomad! I had a load of kayaks to deliver to Alder Creek in Portland, so I loaded up the Nomad and took North for its maiden Voyage. I decided to leave it with Alder Creek for the fall so people can come test it out, and the staff can get it to the coast for some surf. A departure from the Intrepid series, the Nomad chines are sharpened for improved edging. With a beam of 22.5" 56.8cm, 38lbs in Multisport. The Nomad’s stability will give you confidence in most conditions. The hull is a capableexpedition boat but with suitable rocker and volume in the ends for surfing too. The seat is more central in the cockpit, and the stern-deck is lower than other Stellar Kayaks, improving rolling ergonomics. The cockpit bulkhead is designed to drain the cockpit easier when doing skills drills or capsizes and rescues. With many “Sea Kayak” features, such as an embedded compass mount, sail mounting points, 3 bulkheads, stern-deck day hatch, stern-deck paddle recess for remounting and contoured spare paddle storage, this boat will hit many buttons for the avid BCU paddler- both a fun playboat and one capable of adventure. This skeg driven boat uses the innovative Kajak-Sport #4 skeg, with an optional over-stern rudder plumbing too. Keel strip will be standard on all Multisport construction. 2. Nomad LV – Available January 2026 – A companion to the Nomad, the LV version is designed to fit smaller paddlers in the range of 50-70kg. At 15’ 8” (4.775m), the volume will fit a small paddler nicely yet have ample volume for adventure.
