In "Protecting Your Health: What Moms Should Know About HPV," healthcare experts provided a comprehensive overview of the human papillomavirus (HPV). The session highlighted that HPV is a very common virus, with up to 80% of sexually active people contracting it at some point in their lives. Experts emphasized the link between high-risk HPV strains and several types of cancer, including cervical, anal, penile, and oropharyngeal (throat) cancers. The webinar stressed the importance and safety of the HPV vaccine for both boys and girls, ideally administered between the ages of 9 and 12, to provide the most effective protection. The discussion also addressed common parental concerns, such as vaccine safety and the misconception that vaccination encourages sexual activity, clarifying that the vaccine is a cancer-prevention tool. The event concluded with a Q&A session, empowering mothers with the knowledge to make informed decisions about protecting their children from HPV-related cancers.
