You might know this one as the theme song from Toy Story, and it's one of those songs that just makes you smile every time you hear it. I'm covering two different versions here, a fingerpicking arrangement that captures the feel of the original, and a strumming version that's simplified and perfect if you just want to strum and sing along. Now here's the thing, the original recording is a piano tune and when I sat down to work it out on guitar, I found there are actually some really complex chord shapes and inversions going on underneath that simple-sounding melody. So I've taken all of that and simplified it down into something that works beautifully on acoustic guitar without all the weird chord voicings. Fun fact: this song was actually nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song back in 1996, but lost out to "Colors of the Wind" from Pocahontas. After the ceremony, Randy Newman jokingly told an audience about the song, "It's a f--kin' lie, of course, but what do you expect? It's a cartoon." Classic Newman.
