This one was a classic “viewer PC shows up looking like it survived a natural disaster” situation. Right out of the gate, the elephant in the room was the CPU cooler literally hanging on by a thread because the owner lost the mounting hardware. On top of that, I had loose M.2 drives, a backwards PSU orientation, and an 8-pin EPS that wasn’t fully seated—exactly the kind of simple stuff that can waste hours if you don’t slow down and do a basic sanity check first. Once I got a proper cooler installed (I swapped it to a be quiet! Pure Rock 3 because there was no saving the missing hardware situation), I started chasing the real symptom: no display out. The board kept flagging VGA, and the RTX 4060 Ti wasn’t behaving normally—no fan spin, no post, and it failed in a known-good test platform as well. After ruling out the PSU and doing the usual resets/slot tests, it became pretty clear the 4060 Ti was dead. To get the viewer back up and running, I swapped in a donated RTX 2060. Yeah, it’s a downgrade, but it’s free, it posts consistently, temps look great, and the system boots into Windows repeatedly—mission accomplished: send the PC home working, not “maybe working.”
