In this video, I build a complete Full Stack Employee Management System (EMS) step-by-step using the MERN stack—MongoDB, Express, React, and Node.js. I walk you through the real workflow of a company portal with two roles: Admin and Employee. Admin can manage employee records, track today’s attendance, approve/reject leave requests, generate payslips, and update profile settings. Employees can clock in/clock out, apply for leave, view their payslips, and even download/print them as PDF. I start from a clean React setup using Vite, then add Tailwind CSS for styling, React Router for routing, Lucide icons, and React Hot Toast for notifications. I also show how I structure the app with shared layout + sidebar using nested routes and an Outlet, and how I use dummy data first so the UI is not blocked while we build the backend and database.
