Halloween is coming, and in our house that means one thing: it’s time to bake festive dog treats with Memphis, Kira, and Eleanor right in the middle of the chaos. In this video, I make the CUTEST jack-o’-lantern pumpkin dog cookies using pumpkin puree (make sure it’s 100% pumpkin, not pie filling), coconut milk (or water), pure maple syrup, oat flour, cinnamon, and a tiny bit of ginger. We mix everything up (KitchenAid makes it easy, but you can absolutely do it by hand), roll the dough to about 1/4-inch thick, and use pumpkin cookie cutters with little face stamps to make them extra fun. Of course, the best part is the “helping” (aka licking bowls and beaters), including Memphis somehow getting pumpkin on her forehead and Eleanor doing her chaotic taste-test spins. I also share a couple quick baking tips: if your dough is too wet, add a little more flour; if it’s too dry, add a splash of water. And if you want crunchier cookies, you can leave them in the oven longer (or let them sit in the turned-off oven for a few hours) to dry out more. These are treats—not meal replacements—so feed in moderation, but yes… the pack says they’re a total win.
