Who is the best Valentine you could ever have? Your dogs, of course! Today on Gone to the Snow Dogs, we are heading into the kitchen to whip up some vibrant, naturally red heart-shaped cookies for Memphis, Kira, and Eleanor. These treats get their stunning color from a "magic" ingredient—beetroot powder—which the girls absolutely loved even before the cookies hit the oven! Between Memphis trying to keep her fur white, Kira showing off her athletic patience, and Eleanor attempting to "wash the dishes" before we even started, it was a chaotic and fun-filled baking day. Despite the 40 mph winds and the frozen tundra outside, we stayed warm inside making memories (and a bit of a purple mess) with the pups. Valentine’s Beetroot Dog Cookie Recipe Ingredients 1 cup whole wheat flour (plus an extra 1/4 cup if dough is too wet) 1/4 cup oat flour (pro tip: blend rolled oats to make your own!) 1 and 1/2 tablespoons beetroot powder 1 farm fresh egg 1/4 cup homemade bone broth (or water) 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut cooking oil (liquid form) 2 tablespoons unsweetened organic applesauce Yogurt melting discs (optional for decorating) HIGHLIGHTS FROM OUR DAY 🄣 Eleanor trying to "help" wash the dishes before we even started baking. ✨ Using "magic" beetroot powder to get that perfect natural Valentine red color. šŸ‘… Memphis and Eleanor getting purple tongues from a sneak preview taste test. 🄚 The girls' intense focus as we added a farm fresh egg to the mix. šŸŽ Everyone's favorite part: getting to lick the applesauce spoon and the beaters. šŸŽØ Rolling out the dough and using cute heart-shaped and paw-print cookie cutters. šŸ’Ø Showing off the 40 mph winds and snow whipping across our frozen tundra. 🦓 Memphis wearing her compression brace to help with some ankle swelling while waiting for treats. šŸ“ø The final taste test where even the dramatic Kira gave a big crunchy thumbs up. About This Video

Today I’m in the kitchen making Valentine’s Day cookies for the best Valentines you could ever have… your dogs. We whipped up naturally red, heart-shaped treats for Memphis, Kira, and Eleanor using my ā€œmagicā€ ingredient: beetroot powder. It smells like dirt (not gonna lie), but the girls were obsessed with it—so obsessed we ended up with purple tongues before the cookies even hit the oven. Between Eleanor trying to ā€œwash dishesā€ that didn’t exist and Memphis attempting to keep her fur white, it was chaotic in the best way. I walk you through the full recipe: mixing the dry ingredients (whole wheat flour, oat flour, beetroot powder), then the wet ingredients (farm fresh egg, bone broth, coconut cooking oil, and applesauce). I also show you how to fix the dough if it’s too wet—mine needed about an extra 1/4 cup of flour—then we roll it out to about 1/4-inch thick, cut cute hearts and paw prints, and bake at 400° for 15–20 minutes. After a little optional yogurt ā€œfrosting,ā€ the girls do the official taste test (yes, even dramatic Kira). Quick reminder: these are treats, not meal replacements—feed responsibly, and enjoy making memories with your pups.
