About This Video

In this video I review the ASUS ProArt Z690 Creator WiFi and answer the big question: is it the best Z690 creator motherboard? This board is clearly built for workflow-first builds—video editing, animation, and other creative tasks—while still being totally usable for gaming. I go through the design (clean, modern, not “gamer edgy”), the LGA 1700 platform for Intel 12th/13th gen, and the practical stuff that actually matters when you’re building a real workstation: fan headers, AIO pump header behavior, ARGB/RGB headers, and a unique CPU over-voltage header for people who want to push clocks. Where this board really flexes is storage and I/O. You get four PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots plus eight SATA ports—so yes, you can realistically run up to 12 drives without the usual “this M.2 disables those SATA ports” nonsense. On the back panel, it’s basically a creator dream: dual Thunderbolt ports, tons of 10Gbps USB, Wi‑Fi 6E, 2.5GbE plus 10GbE for NAS workflows, and even DisplayPort inputs so you can route your GPU signal out through Thunderbolt. The 20Gbps front USB‑C with 60W charging is wild (it even needs an extra PCIe power connector), and while $479 is pricey, for heavy editors who want expandability and fast connectivity, I’m a big fan.
