I’m finally finishing off my Klimt-inspired resin art experiment, and honestly… this last stage felt like walking the tightrope between “ooh fancy” and “why did I do that?” I’d already built the piece up with patterns, texture and that very Klimt-ish gold vibe, but I wanted more definition—so I decided to try engraving directly into cured epoxy resin. Yep. Into the cured resin. Risky, a bit chaotic, and absolutely the kind of thing I do when curiosity wins. In this video I take you through the whole final detailing phase: I engrave in extra lines and texture, refine the design so it feels intentional (rather than “I panicked and added more”), and then bring in gold foil accents to push that luminous, decorative look. To finish, I seal everything under a clear resin top coat—because I want it protected and glossy, but also because a top coat can either unify the whole piece… or highlight every single wobble. The big takeaway: resin art is always a balance between experiment and disaster. Engraving can add gorgeous detail, but it’s definitely a “step too far?” moment if you’re not prepared to commit to the mess and make it work.
